February 22nd, 2010

Colon cancer is recognized as the third most common cancer in the United

An active lifesyle and watching what foods that you eat take a great part in preventing colon cancer. Cooking and eating healthy foods are a great way to be preventative. Fish, chicken, and beans are great protein foods that help avoid colorectal cancer. Processed meats and red meat are not healthy for your colon. Eating your daily dose of fruits and nuts can also help because many of these fruits and nuts have cancer-reducing
properties. Eating fiber also helps. Taking your daily vitamins and uping your calcium intake can also prevent colon cancer. You can eat a variety of dairy products to get
calcium. Also, try soy products and almonds. If you don't like milk and cheese, then try a calcium supplement, they can be just as effective. Vitamin D is another vitamin shown to help prevent
colorectal cancer. You can get it from sunlight as well as food such as
eggs, milk and salmon. Add folic acid (vitamin B) to your diet. Take a
supplement or add foods such as lentils, asparagus, peas, strawberries
and oranges. Did you know that most people need to drink anywhere from 1 -2 liters of water per a day? This will help flush out your system. Being phsically active, such as walking, running or even just moderate exercise can reduce your risk. Also, taking colon cleansing supplements and reading what colon cleanse reviews sites have to say about colon cancer can also prevent colon cancer. Best Ways to Deal With Cigarette Cravings

February 7th, 2010

There are several ways to deal with cigarette withdrawls. First, remember that this craving, and all the others that will inevitably ensue, is merely a temporary feeling and will pass. Another thing to remind yourself when a strong craving strikes are of
all the reasons you're quitting smoking. These could include avoiding
horrible diseases such as lung cancer, emphysema, or going through
painful treatments, surgery, and chemotherapy. Not to mention living
longer, having more energy, feeling and looking younger, and so the
list goes on.
Keep your hands and your mouth busy by munching on celery or carrot sticks, chewing sugarless gum, or eating pieces of fruit. Other ways of keeping busy include learning how to knit or
crochet, playing an instrument, painting, working in the garden, or the
hundreds of other possible ways of keeping your mind and your hands
occupied.
Try a few deep breathing exercises as soon as you start to feel a craving coming on.
Inhale deeply through your nose, exhaling slowly through the mouth,
repeating the process ten times. By then, the urge or craving will have
either passed, or greatly subsided.
Avoid people who are smoking, as well as situations or
activities that you associate with cigarettes, such as drinking
alcohol, attending parties, or being in areas where smokers will be
congregating. This will only test you and you might not be ready for this yet. Just remember to stay strong. Cravings won't last forever. Also, you can try electronic cigarettes. Many people say that they are please with the electronic cigarette and that it really works! You can get the best electronic cigarettes online or in some malls. So what are you waiting for, stop smoking today!

Try the Weight Loss Supplement Everyone is Raving About!

February 3rd, 2010

A few weeks ago, a few of my college friends and I decided to get together. We all live in different cities now and hadn't seen each other in a long time.  So here we were 5 years after graduation and all flying to Florida to reunite. Well time came for us to meet and it was so good to see everyone! However, I realized that most of us had gained a few pounds over the last five years. The only one that had not gained a single pound had even had a kid! We were all curious to know what her secret was. She said that she had gained a few pounds just like the rest of us had, until one of her friends told her about acai berry. Acai berry is an all natural berry that is much like a blueberry. It is rich in antioxidants and is said to aid weight loss. Acai berry supplements also help you have more energy so you will feel better and even feel like going to the gym! The acai berry detox regiment is a great, natural way to lose weight and speed up metabolism. All of us girls were shocked to find out that there is such a product on the market. Many of us don't have time to spend hours in the gym and this is a great way to lose weight safely. So I went home, tried it, and you know what - it worked!! I totally recommend this product to all of my friends and family. And I even got it off of a website that offers free trials! So what are you waiting for, start your acai berry diet today!

Hobbies That Help To Keep Me In Shape

January 10th, 2010

I have noticed recently that most guys my age have a tendency to get fat and lazy. Most of this seems to be a result of a change in their lifestyle. Most guys probably think they are getting fat because they are getting older and that is just what happens, but that is not always the case. Another reason is because of the foods that they eat, that is part of the reason, but also not totally the truth. I believe one of the main reasons that men get fat is because of a change in lifestyle after high school and college. Sure they eat food that is bad for them and their metabolism slows down, but the lack of exercise has a huge part to do with weight gain.

I remember when I was in high school, I played basketball at break time, lunch time, after school, basketball practice, and then after that I would go to karate class for some more exercise. Although some sports varied throughout the years, this was pretty much my schedule 6 days per week. Now I work an office job all week, sit in a chair, eat Chinese food and drink coke. And we wonder why we are getting fat. So after putting on about 20lbs, I decided it was time to start exercising again, but you know how much we all hate exercise. So I decided to incorporate exercise with some hobbies. So here is what I do… I love Jeeps, so I bought an old Jeep with an AMC 360 V8 and decided to fix it up. After ordering some jeep parts and giving it some TLC, I got it back into running order in no time. Then I bought a nice Khar .40 cal elite 98 and spruced it up with some of my favorite gun parts. After that I started driving my jeep out into trails in the mountains of Tennessee and Kentucky and after enjoying a nice ride, I will go hiking and shot at targets after I reach my destination. I found that not only is this a fun trip, but it also allows me to get some great exercise. Here is to losing 20lbs and having fun doing it this year.

How to Learn Positive Thinking and Self-Talk

December 28th, 2009

For you to think positively, you have to change your mental and emotional approach towards every aspect of yourself. There are steps that you may apply to enhance your positive thinking towards people and different kinds of situations.

You have to learn on how to think positively by deciding on things that are more superior to your attitude. In this way, you will eliminate all negative things that can affect your decision-making.

You have to always react on things that you think will affect your life, instead of allowing other people to decide what you will do in life. You may also interact with people who can help you learn and value things that are beneficial for your development. Always avoid those people who discourage you to act on your goals. You should mingle with people who can motivate you in any goals you would like to achieve.

Saying positive things about you is an effective way to enhance positive thinking. This is called positive self-talk. The way you communicate to yourself influences your thinking and your emotional approaches to people and things. You may read about people that have overcome different struggles, fought fear, and succeeded in life. In this way, you will be able to gain knowledge and it will help you understand new ideas. You will also have a positive outlook n life.

Be motivated in accomplishing your goals no matter how hard they may seem to you. Always take time to work on your goals. Learn to be busy with your goals. You will be surprised that you were able to finish one task. You may find yourself inspired on doing the things with a lot of fun while you are self-confident. Make a positive view on how you see things. You can a make a positive picture of yourself with the environment.

You may start changing those old internal discouraging pictures with positive images that you would like to experience. You may also start questioning yourself about your attitude and behavior. Then, you can make an action plan on how you can be able to resist and produce those attitudes you like and dislike. You may have a moment when you see yourself on circumstances that will bring negativity and doubt on your capabilities.

The truth is, you cannot control all things that could happen in your life. However, you can decide on things and you may choose to think and make a feel about the positive things. In a way, you may have the option to choose on what you think would be beneficial in increasing your self-esteem.

Positive self-talk is a powerful tool that can influence your attitude and behavior. When you say positive things about yourself, you will be able to respond and react internally on what you would like to happen in your life. It determines your personal feelings, thoughts and your reactions. When you practice self-talk, you may start asserting control in every aspect that can affect or change the way you see life.

Your self-talk allows you to see the majority of your emotional side. Every word that you will use should attribute to the things that are happening now. The reactions that are created whenever you experience happiness or boredom will have an impact to the emotional aspects of your thinking.

How Much Should A Charity Auction Cost?

November 30th, 2009

I talk to a lot of charity organizations because of my business online.  One of the services I provide to worthy causes is a FREE customized dedicated online auction that they can use anytime the want.  Every penny that comes in from every item purchased on their auction goes directly to them. No middle man, no set up fees, no hosting charges, no percentage taken.

Actually, since it the service is specific to charity I can’t fathom why it should be any other way.  But believe it or not, occasionally I get asked by Charity Directors, why should they use me instead of the other service that they have always used before.

I take the time to explain it to them but then I figured that maybe I’m talking to the wrong people.  Maybe I need to talk directly to you, the people that want to donate to charity.

To be blunt, if your favorite charity has a director that would rather give ten percent of your donations away rather than use that money for the cause you wanted it to go to, you need to replace that director.

Ten percent means that if you’re Bill and Melinda Gates and you donated one million dollars to the worthy cause of your choice, one hundred thousand dollars of that would go to the “Charity Auction Service” that charges rather than to the kids at the Seattle Children's Hospital (insert the name of your favorite charity here).  That’s nuts.  Bill and Melinda would never do that.

If you have never run an online auction for charity let me get you up to speed. Until I developed an alternative, your favorite worthy cause would contact one of the Online Auction Services available to charity.  That “Charity” service would charge a setup fee before the auction ever started plus a percentage of whatever the auction brought in.  Plus fees for any other service, processing, email service. Starts to sound like maybe there’s a lot of money to be made “serving” the charity industry.

I was blown away by how much money was being spent to hold a fund raiser. I was talking with Ken Berger, CEO of Charity Navigator and he told me that the advise Charities to try to not let the cost of a fund raiser get higher than ten percent. Ouch.

Since what I do is all about promoting online business, I knew that it would be a golden opportunity to unit both the Non-Profit Organizations and web-based business.

So I went to the best online auction software company in the business and hired them to build a program that would specifically and exclusively serve the Non-Profit Industry.  I provide that, for free to charities.  I build them a dedicated auction tailored to compliment their website that they have complete administrative control over.  They can use it as much or as little as they want. It can be used to do annual auctions or emergency time sensitive events. All for free.

What makes it interesting from a donating business perspective (aside from all the money going where it should) is that it is designed to give business acknowledgment for their philanthropy.

Remember the last time you went into some local business and they had a wall dedicated to plaques from local teams they had sponsored and charities they supported?  Subconsciously you recognized that that business was an important part of your community.

Maybe you were able to see that they had supported a cause you felt strongly about.  When you know a business gives back to your community it makes you feel good about using that business.  Well the online world is like a big community.  That plaque on the wall is recognition from the charity that a business has given back to the community.

Hopefully you give to charity.  If your favorite charity has an online presence, ask them to use our free service.  That way everything you and everyone else that donates goes directly to the worthy cause.  If they won’t use a dedicated FREE service maybe it’s time to find another charity that won’t waste your hard earned money.

For more details about our FREE service visit aSEOpro.com and navigate to the Charity Auction information. And don’t be afraid to share this with information.  Like any tool, it’s worthless unless you use it!

Guns For Sale Do We Really Need Them?

November 5th, 2009

Guns. Do we really need them? This is a question that is quite hard to answer. I wonder if the first gun maker made this for a good purpose. It’s hard to justify. Are guns created to inflict harm and threaten enemies? Or are they created for self-protection from someone who is a threat to us?
As a law abiding citizen, I need a gun to protect myself and my family from harm, especially now that crime rates are increasing. I just cannot stand having only a baseball bat to protect myself from criminals.
The use of guns lies in our hands. It would be helpful in having a peaceful society when people know how to use guns for sale rightfully.

Visualization - Practice Makes Perfect

November 5th, 2009

"Practice makes perfect" or so the saying goes. The troubled is that often we simply do not have either the time or the opportunity to practice things in the real world. However there is a very powerful technique known as "Visualization" that is used by many world-class athletes to boost their performance on the field. Applying this same technique to other aspect of life enables a person topractice things mentally, before encountering the real event.

Visualization is the process of running through scenarios in your mind, actually visualizing the events and your role within them and mentally enacting them. The amazing thing is that scientific research has shown that at a subconscious level the mind does not discriminate between real world events and thisvisualization. The process of mentally practicing things or visualizing is the same as having actually done it!

Using this technique in advance of any difficult or challenging situation is going to give you a huge performance boost. Just imagine running through an upcoming job interview repeatedly until you had it perfect in your mind. When you come to the real interview, you will already have done it many times in your head; you will be far more relaxed and confident and will have all the right answers to hand. You are bound to impress!

Practicing, mentally or otherwise does not mean however that you should shut your eyes to what may be required of you in any given scenario. There is little point inpractice , either mental or real, when you are practicing the wrong thing. This is not going to help create a successful outcome. You need to make sure that you play through your visualizations in a way that takes into account not only what you want, but also the demands of all the other aspects of your scenario.

When other people are involved, you need to take into account their desires and needs or where your scenario involves simple techniques, make sure you have those techniques completely understood.

Visualization allows you to approach difficult and stressful situations with confidence and aplomb and is a vital life skill. When combined with other positive thinking techniques the effects can super-charge your successful outcomes.Visualization will work for anything, from asking for a date to running the marathon.

So why not try it. Next time you face a challenge, why not visualize yourself handling it perfectly and see how powerful it is for yourself.

How Kids Benefit from Watching TV

October 15th, 2009

Some of us only had limited TV channels while growing up. Besides, cartoons weren't on 24/7, so instead, we could only watch them early in the morning before school and on Saturdays. Today's kids have a wealth of options with multiple TV channels for children that run nothing but cartoons and kid shows all day, all week.

However, the good news is that today's programs go beyond teaching math and reading. They delve into social interactions to help kids learn how to get along with each other and build friendships, encourage problem solving in the world around them and get ideas on how to deal with new, unfamiliar situations.

TV time can be beneficial for kids when they watch the right (TV Shows) content. The following tips offer ideas on how to do that:

  • Find talking points: Parents who watch shows with their children can use the program's topic as a talking point. A character lies, steals, cries, fights, helps others or cooperates. Ask the children what happens when someone lies or steals. What can a person do when she's upset? These provide opportunities for families to discuss what happens when you do the right thing and how the character went about solving a problem.
  • Tie show with research: Maybe the kids learned a new word or a program's topic fascinated them. Use the opportunity to go online to do research and gain researching skills. They can look up definitions and check the local library's catalog for books on the topic for further reading. For example, a show covers a variety of music genres is an opportunity for kids to go online to listen to songs from the related genres and learn about the history of the music.
  • Discover culture: Watch the news, documentaries, historical programs and music. More TV programs explore different cultures in terms of history, music, food and more.
  • Solve problems: Characters often face challenges and work to overcome them. Parents can use these problems as a way to talk to their kids about their experiences.
  • Learn good social skills and teamwork: Friendship is a frequent theme, which teaches how to work together, play fair and understand what other people are feeling — something that would boost a child's emotional intelligence

Dr. Frederick Zimmerman, an associate professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Washington, led a study that appeared in Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He reported that parents make a difference in ensuring their children benefit from watching television by talking to them about the program, encouraging them to interact with the show by singing, dancing and saying words, watching a variety of program types and monitoring what they watch.

Remember to balance the TV time with physical activities, reading, playing with non-electronic toys and going outside. Kids also learn from parent behavior.

How to build better friendships

September 25th, 2009

What is the true meaning of friendship? Each one of us may define friendship differently. For some, friendship it is a bond between two strangers which comes out of love. Friendship is perhaps one relation that has survived obstacles in life and has still remained unconditional. To be able to experience what is the meaning of friendship, you have to have good friends and be one.

So, how can you build better friendship:

  • Make friends your priority which means you should make more time for friends.

  • Note the little things. It is important to stand by your friends during difficult times. What keep friendships going are small acts of caring.

  • Risk being yourself. There comes a time that you need or must open up and express your deepest feelings.

  • Accept your differences. Friends have things in common that is why they go along well. But you've got to have something in common so that you understand each other and enough difference so that there is something to exchange.

  • Do not keep score. You will make more friends when you forget about getting as much as you give.

  • Laugh with your friends. Laughter is not just a medicine, it brings friends closer together and brightens a friend's day as well.

  • Let your friends be generous. Yes, it may be better to give than to receive, but it is important to also let your friends know that you need them. Just as you feel happy to help a friend, give him a chance to help you
